Ashes & Steel Studio To Celebrate One-Year Anniversary in Asheville’s River Arts District

ASHEVILLE, NC (November 2, 2019) -- Ashes & Steel Studio will host a one-year anniversary celebration at their 347 Depot Street location in Asheville, North Carolina, on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 7:00-11:00pm. To commemorate the state-of-the-art salon’s year of successful business, co-owners Gary Topple and Alejandro Jimenez are hosting “WHITE PARTY: The Anniversary.” Guests are invited to dress in white attire, and enjoy live music by DJ Dimitri, along with white-themed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dancing. All are welcome to attend.

Master stylists Gary Topple and Alejandro Jimenez launched their innovative salon in November of 2018. During the past year, guests have enjoyed an elevated salon experience focusing on creativity, transformation, and the highest level of customer service.

In its first year of business, Ashes & Steel Studio has demonstrated successful growth from clientele to sustainable practices to community involvement. For example, Nick Arrojo, international celebrity hair stylist, and Ronnie Stam, Creative Director of Oribe Hair Care, both visited Ashes & Steel Studio, demonstrating their expertise to guests and staff. The salon participated in the 2019 Color Me Goodwill charity event and raised funds for The Franklin School of Innovation, a tuition-free public charter school in Asheville. With a strong commitment to reducing the salon industry’s environmental impact on the planet, Ashes & Steel Studio decreased water usage over the past year and redirected 80% of the salon waste to be repurposed into planet-friendly, green solutions.

Starting in July 2019, Green Circle Salons began collecting all hair clippings, extensions, excess color, developer, papers, plastics, foils, aerosol cans and color tubes from Ashes & Steel Studio, and effectively decreased the salon’s total waste by 85-95%. As customers continue to take increasing interest in the ethical and environmental impacts of their purchasing power, Ashes & Steel Studio wants to give customers a more responsible and greener choice when it comes to looking and feeling beautiful.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Green Circle Salons to take a positive stand for our planet, reduce our ecological footprint, and help make our industry more sustainable,” notes Gary Topple, Ashes & Steel Studio co-owner with Alejandro Jimenez. “Through this partnership, we will be redirecting what was once considered garbage out of our waters, streams and landfills to be repurposed into innovative green solutions.”

On a daily basis, over 421,206 lbs. of waste are being tossed out by hair salons across North America — from 63,180 lbs. of hair clippings, 42,122 lbs. of hair color, 109,512 lbs. of foil and color tubes, to 206, 392 lbs. of waste paper, salon bottles and plastic items.The Green Circle Salons initiative provides a solution to transform beauty waste into a desirable commodity through award-winning platform built by the industry and for the industry.This program allows salons to repurpose and recover up to 95% of the resources that were once considered waste including materials such as hair, hair color, foils, color tubes, aerosol cans, paper and plastics.

Ashes & Steel Studio Celebrates Grand Opening in Asheville’s River Arts District

Asheville, NC (January 24, 2019) -- Master stylists Gary Topple and Alejandro Jimenez launched their new state-of-the-art salon, Ashes & Steel Studio, with a “City Lights” Celebration event. Over 120 guests attended the opening and enjoyed live music by DJ Dimitri, dancing, hors d’oeuvres and raffles.

In keeping with the evening’s “City Lights” theme, guests sipped Cosmopolitans and Manhattans. Local beer from Highland Brewing Company was also served along with a fine selection of gourmet food from cheese and charcuterie boards to beef and chicken skewers and tasty appetizers. Cupcakes with the salon’s A and S logo were the evening’s fashionable dessert, and British chocolate coins were scattered throughout the salon.

Models wearing Ashes & Steel Studio shirts delighted guests as they displayed their hairstyles by owners Gary and Alejandro. A red carpet coupled with a step-and-repeat backdrop offered a popular selfie haven. The highlight of the evening took place when red balloons were dropped from the ceiling, cascading to the floor.
